Guitar Practice Tip 3

Guitar Practice Tip 3

When learning to play the guitar there are a lot of things to think about when you play. Sometimes students have difficulties remembering the chord shapes, however help is at hand.

This tip is very simple if you want to learn chord shapes more quickly – learn to play songs!

There seems to be something about having the extra structure of a chord progression that helps with the retention of chord shapes. It may be because as you play the song the shapes follow one another in a repetitive manner, thus helping the shapes become embedded in your muscle memory.

If you want to learn a good variety of chords, then buy yourself a copy of The Beatles Complete Chord Book. This book not only contains dozens of brilliant songs but is also a treasury of fantastic chords and chord progressions.
