When learning guitar it is important to ensure that you develop your general musical skills at the same time. One of these important skills is Ear Training

Learning to recognise intervals – the distance between notes – both when the notes are played separately or played together will really help you work out songs and parts off recordings. It also helps you other issues such as tuning and improvisation.

As with everything else – thoughtful practice is the key. A great tip for improving your ear is to sing! You don’t have to be a great singer, but singing pitches as you play them will anchor these relationships in you brain better.
