Play Two Cool Guitar Chords
Learning the guitar is not all exercises and practice, sometimes you learn stuff just for fun! Here are two iconic chords that many of you will recognise.
The James Bond Chord
The chord below is Em/Maj 9 – it has a very tense/sinister sound. This chord was played by session guitarist Vic Flick on the James Bond Theme. This type of chord is also used as the chord that falls in pitch at the end of the Pink Panther Theme.
The Hard Days Night Chord
Ka – Ching! So starts The Beatles song A Hard Days Night. There are lots of articles about what was played on this recording, however for our purposes the grid below shows the chord used by the Bootleg Beatles and is about as near as you can get to that ringing sound with a single guitar. Of course using a Rickenbacker electric 12 string guitar probably helps as well.
This chord is a G7sus4.
Note: I find it easier to fret the 5th fret notes with fingers 2 & 3.
This chord is also used in The Police song – Walking on the Moon – it is the chord that just seems to hang. Using an Electric Mistress Chorus/Flanger and a bit of delay helps nail that amazing Andy Summers guitar tone
These are just a few of the really cool chords to learn. I will feature a couple more at some point.
